Fresh strawberry production is still taking place in all three major growing areas in California. Oxnard, CA (Southern CA) is still packing a little bit of fresh, but the warmer weather will affect the crop this week and fresh production will likely cease. Santa Maria, CA (Central CA) is coming on strong and was not affected by the rains that occurred early last week. Strawberry production in Watsonville/Salinas, CA (Northern CA) in the last couple of weeks was affected due to rain and cooler temperatures. However, the area is experiencing excellent spring weather and will likely increase strawberry volumes over the next couple of weeks. The timing of the crop is about normal for this time of year. Consumers should look forward to high quality and reasonably priced strawberries at their local market.
